We’re in Resolute for two nights as we allowed an extra day for a Tanquary pick-up in case weather prevented a pick-up on the 28th. We hiked to the hill at the top of the village, down to the ocean where dead whale didn’t smell very good, to the dump (that smelled worse), to the junkyard and storage yard. I almost stole a polar bear license plate, but honestly got the best of me and I decided to do the right thing (or more correctly not do the wrong thing). Later I found there was a hefty fine if I was caught with a stolen plate.

We flew from Resolute back to Edmonton via Cambridge Bay and Yellowknife. Zero security at Resolute and Cambridge Bay, which I came to learn are uncontrolled airports. At Yellowknife we had to get our luggage and go through security as they checked and refueled the plane. Stayed overnight in Alberta.
This was the strangest thing. The last time it was dark outside was Friday June 12th. I really struck me as strange and abnormal as we walked out the door of the airport. Greg ran across the pick up lane to a big tree and gave it a hug. It was the first plant larger than a scrub bush we’d seen in the same time period. I will never forget the 24-hour daylight. I want to go back sometime! Or maybe Antarctica.

Fly back to Dallas, grab the shuttle home, take a shower, and go to sleep in my own bed.
