Saturday June 27th, 1998,
The day was spent around or near the Tanquary Fiord camp. We me the rangers yesterday, and have the opportunity to see a great video about the park. Several folks went for a ranger led walk in the hills, as well as learning about some of the native folks who actually lived and trapped in the area during the artic summer. Amazing to think people would trap animals this far north.
I explored the equipment barn, where there is canned and boxed dry food dating back to the cold war. Looking at some of the ancient packaging was like stepping into history. I ate a box of macaroni and cheese that looked like it was from the sixties and probably was. If wasn’t the tastiest thing, but wasn’t bad and I didn’t get sick.
